Mental est un groupe de hardcore straight edge formé en 2001 à Boston par le chanteur Greg Willmott, le bassiste Derek Scace, le guitariste Dookie et le batteur Justin DeTore ( R'n'R). Disciples avides du hardcore de New York (NYHC) et du vieux hardcore de Boston à la SSD, Fu's, Negative FX ; Mental ne prêche pas et enregistre son premier disque en 2003, sous le nom de Get an Oxygen Tank, sur label "Bridge 9". En octobre 2004, le groupe réalise le 5 titres Yo, suivi de l'album Planet Mental en 2005 sur "Lockinout Records ". En 2006, après cinq ans d'existence, Mental annonce officiellement sa séparation.
